About the facility
The headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt is one of the most striking architectural achievements of contemporary Europe, completed in 2014. The project was designed by the famous Viennese architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, and its central idea was to connect the historical and the modern – by integrating the protected Großmarkthalle with new, monumental structures.
The dominant part of the complex consists of two towers rotating around a central axis, 185 meters high, separated by an impressive glass atrium. This atrium forms the heart of the project and creates the impression of a vertical city – intertwined with bridges, platforms and communication routes.
Feal profiles were used in the construction of the complex glass facade, which, thanks to their technological precision and flexibility, enabled the implementation of geometrically demanding facade elements. Feal's aluminum systems were applied in segments where aesthetics, energy efficiency and structural stability were key.
